MIDWEST SCHOOL
The Midwest School refers to a regional group
of rural artists, mostly from the central region of the United
States, who came to prominence in the 1930's. Well known regionalists
were Thomas Hart Benton, John Stuart Curry, and Grant Wood. Not
being part of a coordinated movement, regionalists often had
an idiosyncratic style or point of view.
