ART AUTHENTICATION

Due to the high demand of auction-established artists, and consequently, the many forgeries that have hit the market over recent years, we now strongly advise owners of original works of art to seek authentication from teh respective artist's authentication committee or foundation.

In order to be as well-equipped as possible for the authentication procedure, it is important to have the following information about your piece:

   -- Title, Date, Dimensions, Medium
-- High resolution images of the artwork (front, back and close-up of the signature)
   -- The bill of sale
-- Information about how you acquired the piece
-- Any history/provenance you have on the artwork

Only the rightful owner of the artwork can submit an artwork for authentication. Please note that most authentication committees only meet on a few pre-assigned dates each year, so please allow for the time that is necessary for these procedures to occur. Each artist's authentication procedure is different, but to instigate a more prompt authentication and therefore, a more prompt sale, it is important to be as thorough as possible when supplying information to an authentication committee. Please consult the Art Cellar Exchange if you need assistance in contacting the appropriate authentication committee or foundation.

Once an artwork has been authenticated, we will be happy to discuss the fair market value of your piece and start the selling process. Thank you, in advance, for taking the necessary precautions to protect yourself as a seller and your potential buyer, and for helping to keep the Andy Warhol market veritable.
