Submitting a Work of Art for Sale

Works of art are accepted by the Art Cellar Exchange and placed at our discretion for a minimum of 90 days. Accepted works must be exclusively represented by our company during the duration of the ad. We do not handle works of art under $3,000 in fair market value. The Art Cellar Exchange reserves the right to decline any works we feel do not meet our criteria at any time.

A listing includes: Artist, Title, Medium, Edition Number, Date of work, Size, Framed or Unframed, Retail Price, and Asking Price. If you are selling an original work of art, it is important to include provenance (history of ownership) and authenticity, signed or unsigned.

All works require a well-defined photograph which can either be sent by mail or by e-mail. Please see our photo requirements. If you would like us to consider your work for sale, please use our Request Form.

Authentication Services

In order for a work to be represented and sold by the Art Cellar Exchange, it must be authentic. If a work of art does not have satisfactory provenance, proof of authenticity must then be secured. Provenance is the history of the work as it has traveled from the artist to the present owner.

The Art Cellar Exchange will assist in the process of authentication for a minimum fee of $200. Upon confirmation of authenticity and a signed contractual agreement for the sale of the work by the Art Cellar Exchange, the $200 fee will be subtracted from the proceeds of the sale.

The $200 fee will not be refunded if the owner has not disclosed all pertinent information regarding any other appraisals, evaluations regarding provenance, condition, and suspect opinions on the authenticity of the work, or a contract for sale is not signed with our company.
